I felt it was well and truly time to start sharing my music, even if all I ever end up sharing is my demos and some rough recordings of traditional songs. After making this decision I wanted to find a name for these recordings to come under and possibly even to perform under.
WHY CORELLA?
I love Little Corellas! There is a big flock that plays around in the trees around Lake Wendoree in Ballarat. They like to play, and apparently it's not all that common in the bird world. I have seen them hanging upside down off branches and chasing eachother in flight between the trees around the lake. And like all cockatoos they make a racket!
They are mostly white, with a fleshy blue eye-ring and a pale rose-pink patch between the eye and bill. In flight, a bright sulphur-yellow wash can be seen on the underwing and under tail. The sexes are similar in plumage, and young birds look like the adults, but are slightly smaller. Little Corellas are widespread throughout Australia and they often form large flocks, especially along watercourses. Both sexes incubate the eggs and both care for the young chicks. I like that about Little Corellas! They are all about fun, community and Mum and Dad looking after the kids together! |
